For the vocabulary of family-wealth continuity and succession, see the Glossary. b in touch Bordier’s e-services banking platform, giving a client secure access to their portfolio and account balances, transaction history, statements and notifications, over the web and through a mobile app. Core Holding The label Bordier applies to a long-term position in the stable foundation of an equity allocation. How core holdings are selected is set out on Investment solutions. Decumulation The phase in which a person stops adding to savings and starts drawing on them, typically drawing an income from a pension in retirement. The counterpart of accumulation. Digital assets Bordier’s term for the cryptocurrencies a client can hold through the bank: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Tezos, with further coins and tokens added over time. Traded on an execution-only basis, held in custody by Sygnum, and consolidated in the client’s Bordier portfolio. See Digital assets. Execution-only A basis of service on which the client decides what to buy or sell and gives the instruction, and the bank executes it without giving advice or exercising discretion. Bordier’s digital-asset service is execution-only in both Switzerland and Singapore. Independent asset manager (IAM), also external asset manager (EAM) A firm that manages client money but is not a bank, and therefore relies on a bank for custody, trading infrastructure and access to products. Bordier uses both terms. See Working with independent asset managers. Satellite The label for the shorter-horizon, more flexible part of an equity allocation, held alongside the core holdings. Société en Commandite par Actions (SCmA) The Swiss legal form Bordier & Cie adopted in 2020: a partnership limited by shares, in which the managing partners retain unlimited personal liability for the firm’s obligations. Defined at greater length in the Glossary. Sygnum The regulated digital-asset bank through which Bordier provides its digital-asset service. Sygnum Bank AG holds a Swiss banking licence from FINMA and serves Bordier & Cie SCmA; Sygnum Singapore holds Capital Markets Services and Major Payment Institution licences from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and serves Bordier & Cie (Singapore) Ltd. Sygnum holds the private keys and runs the digital-asset compliance checks; Bordier keeps the client relationship.
