# Wealth Management

> Bordier's universal approach: private banking mandates, financial planning, succession and wealth transfer, and the practical matters around a family's wider life.

Wealth Management is Bordier's tailor-made offering. Portfolios are built to the individual client rather than to a product shelf, on an open architecture, with capital protection as the organising principle. It divides into three parts.

## Private banking

The mandate itself, and the services around it.

* **Discretionary mandates.** The bank manages the portfolio within an agreed strategy.
* **Advisory mandates.** The bank advises, the client decides.
* **Execution-only.** The client instructs, the bank executes.
* **Portfolio analysis.** Review of an existing portfolio's composition, risk and performance.
* **Portfolio consolidation.** A single view across holdings.
* **Lombard loans.** Borrowing against the client's own portfolio. See [Services](/solutions/services).

## Financial planning

Bordier's financial planning is deliberately comprehensive rather than product-led. The purpose is a full understanding of a client's finances in order to optimise wealth over the long term, treating interconnected questions together rather than one at a time.

### What it covers

* **Budget.** Income and expenditure, needs, and the ability to save now and in future.
* **Taxation.** How it can be optimised, and the tax implications of decisions taken.
* **Financial reserves.** What is needed to maintain a lifestyle, and what will be left to pass on.
* **Real estate.** Buying and selling, financing, retaining ownership, reducing mortgages.
* **Pensions and life's risks.** Whether financial independence holds whatever happens, and what income and assets those close to you would have to live on if you were not there tomorrow.
* **Estate.** What solutions exist, whether to make gifts during your lifetime, and if so how much.

### What the planners examine

The family's existing pension provision for disability, retirement and bereavement, across state, occupational and personal savings. How assets are structured, and whether that structure suits future needs and goals. Tax status, and sustainable strategies for income and wealth taxes. And the effect of changes in personal or professional circumstances.

### What a client receives

* A detailed, transparent and comprehensive financial overview to guide life decisions.
* **Projections of income, wealth and taxation over the next twenty to thirty years.**
* Recommendations tailored to current circumstances and aspirations.
* Sustainable tax savings.
* Access to Bordier's network of specialists.

## Wealth planning and transfer

Planning that reaches beyond the portfolio.

* **Succession planning and wealth transfer.** Tailored, tax-aware strategies to manage, preserve and pass on wealth across generations, with cross-border, legal and tax issues anticipated rather than discovered late. Families and entrepreneurs holding several residences are planned for individually.
* **Retirement financial planning**, as above.
* **Extra-mandatory occupational benefits and vested benefits**, for Swiss residents. See [Services](/solutions/services).
* **Relocations**, where a move changes the tax and regulatory picture.
* **Philanthropy**, structured as part of the wider plan.

## Tailored solutions

The practical matters that sit alongside a balance sheet and often decide whether a plan survives contact with a family's real life: legal and tax support, property, medical visits, nationalities, and yachts, cars and private jets.

## Why it is structured this way

Bordier's independence is what holds the shape. With no external shareholders and no cross-selling, the bank describes itself as unconflicted, unencumbered and undistracted, and its open-architecture model means it selects across asset classes and geographies rather than distributing its own products. Clients deal directly with a senior banker, which is what makes it possible to act with foresight, and personally, across generations.

This connects directly to the [Continuity Compact](/continuity-compact/overview), Bordier's published framework for wealth that lasts across generations.

General information only. Not investment advice, not a solicitation and not an offer. Financial planning projections are illustrative and depend on assumptions that change. Availability, eligibility and terms differ by jurisdiction and by client. Speak to your banker about your own circumstances.
