# Bordier terms

> Definitions of the abbreviations and house terms that appear in Bordier documents, from IAM and EAM to Core Holding, Satellite and SCmA.

Terms that appear in Bordier's own documents and are not self-explanatory. For the vocabulary of family-wealth continuity and succession, see the [Glossary](/reference/glossary).

**b in touch** Bordier's e-services banking platform, giving a client secure access to their portfolio and account balances, transaction history, statements and notifications, over the web and through a mobile app.

**Core Holding** The label Bordier applies to a long-term position in the stable foundation of an equity allocation. How core holdings are selected is set out on [Investment solutions](/solutions/investment-solutions).

**Decumulation** The phase in which a person stops adding to savings and starts drawing on them, typically drawing an income from a pension in retirement. The counterpart of accumulation.

**Digital assets** Bordier's term for the cryptocurrencies a client can hold through the bank: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Tezos, with further coins and tokens added over time. Traded on an execution-only basis, held in custody by Sygnum, and consolidated in the client's Bordier portfolio. See [Digital assets](/solutions/digital-assets).

**Execution-only** A basis of service on which the client decides what to buy or sell and gives the instruction, and the bank executes it without giving advice or exercising discretion. Bordier's digital-asset service is execution-only in both Switzerland and Singapore.

**Independent asset manager (IAM), also external asset manager (EAM)** A firm that manages client money but is not a bank, and therefore relies on a bank for custody, trading infrastructure and access to products. Bordier uses both terms. See [Working with independent asset managers](/solutions/external-asset-managers).

**Satellite** The label for the shorter-horizon, more flexible part of an equity allocation, held alongside the core holdings.

**Société en Commandite par Actions (SCmA)** The Swiss legal form Bordier & Cie adopted in 2020: a partnership limited by shares, in which the managing partners retain unlimited personal liability for the firm's obligations. Defined at greater length in the [Glossary](/reference/glossary).

**Sygnum** The regulated digital-asset bank through which Bordier provides its digital-asset service. Sygnum Bank AG holds a Swiss banking licence from FINMA and serves Bordier & Cie SCmA; Sygnum Singapore holds Capital Markets Services and Major Payment Institution licences from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and serves Bordier & Cie (Singapore) Ltd. Sygnum holds the private keys and runs the digital-asset compliance checks; Bordier keeps the client relationship.
