## In brief

**Longer.** Bordier & Cie is an independent Swiss private bank founded in Geneva in 1844 and owned by five generations of the Bordier family. It operates as a Société en Commandite par Actions in which the managing partners carry unlimited personal liability, is wholly dedicated to private banking, and serves families across generations from twelve cities in six countries.

## Founding and structure

* **Founded:** 1844, in Geneva. The house has carried the name Bordier & Cie since 1895.
* **Origins:** Jaques Reverdin opened the original Geneva house in 1844. His son-in-law Ami Bordier joined in 1871, became a partner in 1888, and on Reverdin's death in 1895 the partnership was renamed Bordier & Cie. See [Heritage](/about/heritage).
* **Legal form:** Société en Commandite par Actions (SCmA), adopted in 2020, preserving unlimited personal liability for the managing partners.
* **Status:** One of a small number of Swiss houses that qualify as a "private banker".
* **Balance sheet:** Wholly dedicated to private banking. No outside shareholders. A strong, debt-free balance sheet with a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 30 per cent as at 31 December 2025, around three times the regulatory requirement.

**The United Kingdom entity, specifically.** Bordier & Cie (UK) PLC is a wealth and investment manager, not a bank. **Bordier & Cie is not authorised as a bank in the UK**, and the UK entity states that on its own published materials. It is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 114324, incorporated in England under company number 01583393, with its registered office at 23 King Street, St James's, London SW1Y 6QY. It offers **Restricted advice as defined by the FCA**, which means that where it makes a personal recommendation of an investment solution, that recommendation comes from Bordier UK's own range of investment propositions and reflects the client's needs and approach to risk.

## What Bordier does

Three service offerings: **Wealth Management**, **Private Asset Management** and **Family Services**, the last covering the family office, an outsourced chief investment officer, and investment governance through a written Investment Policy Statement and a structured investment committee.
